Who We Are
Born Free Pet Shelter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been helping homeless dogs since 1980. Located on a beautiful 5-acre refuge in the Redlands of South Florida, Born Free rescues dogs in distress and offers them the chance to lead happy and healthy lives.
We currently house over 100 dogs, ranging in age from 6 months to elderly. With the help of generous donations and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we provide the love and care that they deserve. Some of our dogs will live out their days at the shelter, but we have so many that would make wonderful companions if given the chance.
Adopting a Friend
WE ONLY HAVE DOGS.
At the time of adoption it is essential that a fee be charged as it will be used to feed and maintain the animals that are housed there. Our dogs are up-to-date with vaccinations, and the females have been spayed.
Come Visit Us
We are in need of towels and large crates for dogs over 50 lbs.
We bring adoptable dogs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 P.M. to Petco on U.S. 1 and 62nd Street. We are also at PetSmart on U.S. 1 and S.W. 136th Street across from The Falls every Sunday from 10 - 2 P.M. with some of our dogs. Call us at (305) 361-5507 for adoptions at our shelter. Items Needed: towels, blankets, large cages, food and $$$ DONATIONS $$$.
Born Free Pet Shelter needs VOLUNTEERS over 12 years old to assist with showcasing its dogs on Sundays. If you are a high school student in need of service hours, you can help! We give community service hours. Animal-lover adults welcomed.
